Gary’s passion lies in raising the bar in Yoga education and helping establish Yoga teachers as recognised professionals with the skills and knowledge to support their students in learning, growing, and evolving beyond their self-imposed limitations.

Born in London, England, Gary now lives in Brussels, Belgium, and is a E-RYT500H registered Yoga teacher, MBSR teacher, and neurodynamic breathwork facilitator.

An avid polymath, Gary also complements his Yoga with knowledge of philosophy, psychology, physiology, and entrepreneurship.

Michael Chia

Michael is a yoga enthusiast who stumbled upon its transformative power in 2011 while in Bali. Later, while going through the deepest chapter of a health crisis, yoga became his guiding light.

This profound experience ignited his passion to share its transformative power with others.

For Michael, yoga transcends beyond mere physical postures of Asana practice or being flexible; it's a holistic practice embracing mindfulness, gratitude, and, more importantly, cultivating a positive mindset.

In between travels, he channels his creativity through the lens of a commercial photographer, videographer, and workshop leader.

Beyond yoga, his pursuits include a lifelong dedication to Shotokan Karate and certification as a Thai massage therapist

Matias Schmidt

Matias is a certified Hatha Yoga teacher, Kriya Yoga meditation instructor, and Thai massage therapist.

With over a decade of experience in human development and more than five years of meditation practice, he combines Yoga principles, mindfulness techniques, and personalised support to offer a distinctive mentorship approach.

Matias teaches how to use meditation and Yoga to cultivate key aspects of personal growth, including self-awareness, discipline, focus, concentration, and expanded consciousness.

He aims to guide individuals towards harmony by aligning their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Drawing on his extensive knowledge and personal experiences, Matias is committed to helping others on their path to self-development, leading to a peaceful and healthy life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1: Am I ready to start a 50 Hour YIN Yoga Teacher Training programme?

If you're passionate about Yoga, eager to learn, and want to share your love for the practice with others, you're ready to embark on the path to becoming a Yin Yoga teacher. Our 50-hour YIN Yoga Teacher Training programme will equip you with essential skills.

The course covers the fundamentals of each asana, provides guidance on safe adjustments and modifications, and teaches you effective cueing techniques for sequences. You'll also learn how to communicate with diverse audiences and anchor your practice in a way that informs your teaching.

No need to fret; advanced arm balances and intricate twists aren't mandatory for this course. We do ask that you have at least a six months to a year of committed Yoga practice, ensuring that everyone in the training has a basic understanding of various asanas.

The programme then helps you sharpen your practice and view asanas from an instructional angle.

During the training, you'll encounter some challenging poses, but that's the enriching aspect of Yoga and your body—each informs the other!

Participants may transfer their enrolment to a future edition of the YTT programme, subject to availability and approval by the Yoga Academy once for free.
